Elk river mn hotels11/13/2023 ![]() The concession stand had only one person assisting guests and at times the line was long. We decided to have lunch at the waterpark instead of going elsewhere after seeing several people order pizza and pop, the pizza lookedĪppetizing and we were hungry. The environment was pleasant and my grandchildren seemed to be enjoying themselves. With one chair at the very end of the pool area. The waterpark was very busy due to a school holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Day, it was difficult to find a place to sit and after searching for a few minutes I found a table We proceeded to the waterpark area and they quickly started enjoying the attraction. The Women's locker room is very small and confined, we had a difficult time finding an open locker to store my When we arrived I purchased their passes and they changed into their swim suits. On Monday JanuI took my three grandchildren to the waterpark, their ages are 13, 9 and 7, I wanted to find something that would interest all three of them. Definitely a great place for the kids to burn off some steam! They also have specials if you stay at the hotel. The prices are a little steep but you can buy in bulk to use at a later date for significantly less. The lockers aren't worth the trouble as they fill up so fast. The locker room is the biggest downside as it is very tiny with no real place to change that isn't in open view when the door opens (most people end up using the bathroom stall). No outside food is allowed, but they do have an expensive snack bar for food and beverage (including adult beverage). The place gets busy quickly so go early to get a place to sit and place your stuff. ![]() We took our two kids and their friend here over the winter and they all had a blast! This is a nice, clean water park with a small wading pool for the little ones, a bigger zero entry wading pool with a play structure and small slide, a lazy river for floating, several large water slides, water basketball and more. Please, pease be very vigilant if you take your small children here! Drowning can happen in less than a minute! Specifically, the toddler water slide exits within yards of the deeper pool, so it creates a scenario where young children exit the slide and can easily turn toward the big pool instead of running around to the steps again-before you have time to run around the big structure to reach them. The "toddler area" is just steps away from a pool that is over 3' deep. Please also know that the layout of this waterpark is very cramped, especially during busy times, and it is VERY loud and VERY dimly lit. PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON THE LIFEGUARDS as they were unprepared and had no apparent or effectively executed protocol for emergencies. At that point, the lifeguard who had offered no assistance, started trying to usher everyone out of the water park. By then, a staff member had come over and ushered them out. She came to, crying, as her mother ran over. By then, several adults had gathered around the girl, who was blue tinged, and a man was able to resuscitate her. Not even blow his whistle! I realized he wasn't going to help, so I turned around and tried to wave down anyone else. The teenaged lifeguard just stared at me. Another mother in our group yelled in the opposite direction. I proceeded to jump out of the pool, screaming HELP at the top of my lungs and waving my arms at a lifeguard who was about 15 feet from me. As I swam toward her, another woman reached her, realized she was drowning, and hauled her up onto the deck. I saw the child (young enough to be in a swim diaper) floating chest up in the water in a section of a pool that was about 3'8" deep. To add to the terrifying experience, the life guards were clearly NOT TRAINED and offered NO HELP in resuscitating the child. Our group of mothers and daughters witnessed a near-death drowning at this waterpark.
